Dillon came to us with a pretty horrific leg injury in March. With lots of love and care, he has completely healed with only a limp as evidence of a rough beginning on the streets of San Antonio. Dillon loves to play fetch, play with his doggie friends and lives for squeaky toys. He is a sweetheart, loves cuddles and thinks he is a lap dog. Dillon was originally thought to be deaf but we've found that he does hear certain pitches. He is very smart and is working on learning hand signals. From south TX, little (only 30#) Marshall was found as a forgotten stray. He is under treatment now for several tick diseases and heart worm but he acts fine and he is very happy. Initially timid, Marshall is quite social now. He has the cutest smile due to his overbite and he is doing well with the foster dogs and seems okay with the resident cat too. Completely housebroken and good on the leash, Marshall has good house manners but would love to sleep with someone. He also now enjoys lap time when mom is home. Now I'll actually come out of my kennel and into the dog run! I'm still very nervous, and the loud noises by the highway scare me, but I'm not aggressive at all. I would like to introduce you to Pepper. She is a sweet loving 10 month old dalmatian mix. She was initially on the kill list in a local shelter for being fearful. She has been with us for several months and we are working on her fears. She has completed basic puppy training and knows several commands. Sit, Stay, Down and go to your mat. She takes treats nicely as well. When she is fed, she needs a slow bowl as she gobbles her food down pretty fast. Pepper is totally vetted. She is up to date on her shots, spayed and is Heartworm negative and on preventative. She has been chipped and registered for life. The perfect owner for Poppy will ... Pepper loves to play and will give you lots of kisses and loves to have her tummy rubbed too. Pepper is crate trained, yet she will need an person that is home most of the day so she is not always crated. She needs the freedom to be out with her people so that she will feel secure and overcome her fears. Someone will need to be willing to spend time with her in order for her to be secure. Her perfect home will add her to their family and not let her remain outside without supervision. She will be treated as part of the family and live indoors. I think Pepper might be good with other dogs if an introduction is done properly. I would like her though to be in a home without them as she tends to play very rough and is mouthy and nips, playfully. The perfect owner will give Pepper love, discipline, and a routine. The perfect home will have a fenced in yard so that she is able to run and get the exercise she needs. She LOVES to run. The perfect home will not have any cats either. Dalmatian Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Dalmatians are energetic, companionable dogs. Dalmatians need to be with people and may become despondent if left alone. A Dalmatian makes a wonderful pet for families with children but should be supervised with very small kids. Dalmatians are good with other household pets but can be combative with dogs they do not know. Dalmatians have a slight tendency to be high strung or timid if they do not have enough exercise or socialization. Dalmatians are smart but can be stubborn. They respond very well to early, consistent obedience training. Dalmatians need a home with a good sized yard.
