Rescue Me ID: 17-06-14-00365Chubba (male)

Dalmatian Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chubba is still very young. His DOB is 2/13/17. He is a lab/dalmation mix. He lived a miserable six months here on this earth before coming to us and our goal to make the rest of his life a good one. He was 'dumped' way before he was old enough to care for himself. He ended up in an area that was filled with Porcupine and had the needles all over his body - especially his face. He had to be live trapped to get him. He was absolutely terrified and is still leary of humans but is coming around vey slowly. It took almost two months for his sores to heal and for him to 'tolerate' being touched but he is doing better - all physical wounds ... (Read More)are healed and he is now coming to the gates looking for attention, he will not in and out voluntarily without being forced. We put him in with a more outgoing dog and that has helped tremendously. He requires a loving and PATIENT home. He is not a 'love you to death' type of puppy. You will have to earn that love through lots and lots of patience. He does great with other dogs and is getting more and more curious about all of the attention they get. He would probably be best in a home with another dog to help him finish coming out of his shell (a non-aggressive dog of course). He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but as with any fearful dog - he could bite - so therefore no young children for this beautiful baby. His adoption fee is $100.00. If you think you have the patience and love for this young guy, please go to our website and complete an adoption application you will find that at He is neutered, current on his shots, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dalmatian in Iowa
Dalmatian Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Dalmatians are energetic, companionable dogs. Dalmatians need to be with people and may become despondent if left alone. A Dalmatian makes a wonderful pet for families with children but should be supervised with very small kids. Dalmatians are good with other household pets but can be combative with dogs they do not know. Dalmatians have a slight tendency to be high strung or timid if they do not have enough exercise or socialization. Dalmatians are smart but can be stubborn. They respond very well to early, consistent obedience training. Dalmatians need a home with a good sized yard.

lnteresting Dalmatian Trivia Low-Cost Iowa Spay & Neuter Clinics
The high energy level of the Dalmatian can be attributed to the fact that the dogs were bred to accompany horse-drawn carriages. Dalmatians are popular in the media; a good example of their charismatic appeal is the Disney movie, 101 Dalmatians. Ten to twelve percent of Dalmatians are deaf. Dalmatians may have first been perfected in Yugoslavia or Croatia but the breed dates back thousands of years to ancient Egyptian times.
